Investor Day 2011--Fall/Winter 2010 Edition

On January 18th, 2011, Smithfield held its first
Investor Day. The day's agenda included presentations,
informative break-out sessions, and product displays and
samples. Larry Pope headed up the day, and presenters included
management from all our subsidiaries, including Chad Baker, Tim
Schellpepper, Mike Brown, Scott Webb, John Pauley, Joe Sebring, and
others.
The topics of the presentations allowed investors to gain
insights about many aspects of the company, ranging from our
sustainability initiatives to marketing strategies to hedging
and risk assessment strategies, and other subjects. The themes of
the day were Smithfield's new strategy as a packaged meats company
and its new coherency, acting as one large $11 billion company
rather than a grouping of several subsidiaries.
All food used for display during the event was donated to the
Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula.
