John Morrell & Company is proud to celebrate our 100th year of business in Sioux Falls, South Dakota!  Times sure have changed since 1909, but John Morrell is as strong as ever.  John Morrell has a long, rich tradition of hard working, dedicated employees…the team providing the results that makes our plant the best of the best.

Since my time as General Manager, I have watched this team tackle many major capital investment projects such as:

Automatic loin pullers - An approximate $3 million project that was up and running full speed on Day 1.
Automated CO2 hog stunning process for hog operations to anesthetize the hogs.  An investment of nearly $5 million, and a new building, Building 142. Again, a great success story that resulted in normal operating levels of output in the first week.
Chilled pork and consolidated loin boning operations. Again, we took a vacant and tired old room up on 8th floor and after nearly $6 million in investments, made the room a vibrant, critical part of our future success.

Beyond major investments in our facility, we continue to run very well overall.  On many levels, I would say we are achieving an "A" grade.  Our quality measures, safety, turnover, customer service and productivity have show significant improvements over the years. 

Our future remains as bright as ever.  This is true testimony to our dedicated team members making the JMC Sioux Falls plant a great place to work and one of the most productive plants in the food industry.
